This is truly a special collectible. This is the exact ball that Corey Seager hit to collect his second hit in the Major Leagues. The hit occurred in Corey's Debut Game on September 3rd and resulted in Corey's first two r.b.i.'s of his career.
Corey has long been the Los Angeles Dodgers' most promising minor league player and has been rated as M.L.B.'s #2 overall prospect. He made his debut with the Dodgers on September 3rd as the Dodgers visited the San Diego Padres.
Corey's first at bat resulted in a strike out and in his second at bat he collected his first hit in the Majors with a solid double to right. In the sixth inning the Padres led the Dodgers 4-3 and Corey came to bat with Carl Crawford on third base and Yasmani Grandal on second with one man out. Padres relief pitcher Marc Rzepczynski started Corey off with a 92 mph fastball that was low and inside and taken for "ball one." Rzepczynski's next pitch was a 83 mph curve ball that was low and outside and was taken for "ball two." Rzepczynski's third pitch was a 92 mph fastball again low and outside and was taken for "ball three." With a 3-0 count most rookie's would get the automatic "take" sign; however, Corey was given the liberty to swing and Rzepczynski's next pitch was a 92 mph fastball that Corey turned around and stroked a sharp single to center field. The hit plated both Crawford and Grandal and gave the Dodgers a 5-4 lead!
The baseball was taken out of play and was authenticated by MLB. A MLB Authentic sticker (HZ 906148) was affixed to the baseball. Corey has autographed the ball and has noted that it was his 2nd hit and first and second r.b.i.'s. The signature and inscription are authenticated by P.S.A.
Of course, Corey was given the baseball from his first hit, so this is the first "hit" baseball to be made available from this budding star! For his debut Corey went 2-4 with 2 r.b.i.'s and 2 runs scored!
